Floors and load platforms

Floors and load platforms for vans, i.e. the pull-out floor and the removable load platform above the wheel arches, solve the same problem in different ways: they free up storage space where a conventional shelving unit cannot offer it, that is, in the van floor and above the wheels, between the rear and side doors. We design both solutions to the specific brief, to the millimetre according to what you carry in the vehicle.

Below we explain how they differ and when to choose which.

Two ways to more storage space

A classic shelving unit stands along the wall of the cargo area. Floors and load platforms use places where a shelving unit does not fit: the space in the floor of the van and the space above the wheel arches between the rear and side doors.

Pull-out floors for vans

We design pull-out floors (pull-out floor platforms) to measure, according to the specific brief. They can be combined with a bike pull-out and with an existing fit-out, so you can add them to a vehicle that already has a shelving unit. You will find details in the category Pull-out floors for vans.

Removable additional load platform

When a van is so crammed that even carrying pallets of material becomes a problem, a removable additional load platform placed between the rear and side doors, above the wheel arches, solves it. It is a simple and economical solution for a small cargo area.

  • you choose the load capacity of the platform freely, and we select suitable profiles and the method of anchoring accordingly,
  • the platform can be divided by dividers,
  • you can set the height to a fixed value to the millimetre, or with the option of adjustment,
  • the height of the side uprights determines how many storage compartments are created.

What both solutions have in common

We build both solutions from aluminium profiles with slots for anchoring anything anywhere, and so they can be added to or modified even after completion. A pull-out floor can also be combined with an existing fit-out.

Example briefs

  • the vehicle already has a shelving unit and the customer additionally wants a floor pull-out for a bike,
  • a small van crammed with tools that must also have room for pallets of material,
  • storage compartments above the wheel arches divided by dividers, with side uprights of the required height,
  • drawers and Euro boxes in the floor, so that the whole load platform remains above them.

A third option: storage space in the floor

The third option is storage in the floor with drawers and Euro boxes on pull-outs, which preserves the maximum size of the load platform above it. You will find it in a separate category, Van underfloor storage.

How to choose

  • Pull-out floor – you need storage space that pulls out of the vehicle, for example a bike pull-out or an addition to an existing fit-out.
  • Removable additional load platform – you carry pallets of material and want the area above the wheel arches available only occasionally, because it can be taken out of the vehicle.
  • Underfloor storage – you want drawers and Euro boxes under a raised floor and to keep the whole load platform above them.

Link to shelving units and pull-outs

Floors and load platforms complement the shelving unit; they do not replace it. You will find shelving units in the category Vehicle shelving units, pull-outs from the side doors and for heavy equipment in the category Made-to-measure pull-outs for vans, and an explanation of how the structure is anchored to the vehicle body in the category Anchoring vehicle fit-outs.

We design to your brief

Neither solution is a finished product with fixed dimensions. Send us a photo of the vehicle's cargo area and briefly describe what you want to store or transport, ideally with a hand-drawn sketch and dimensions. On that basis we will prepare a realistic 3D model; you can view it and we will modify it according to your comments. You can change, add or leave out anything in it.

Installation

We can arrange installation, or you can fit the assembly yourself – the choice is yours. For floors and load platforms the same applies as for shelving units: anchoring to the vehicle body requires drilling into its reinforced parts and follows type-approval requirements.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a pull-out floor and a removable load platform?
A pull-out floor is a storage space that slides out of the vehicle, and we design it for the specific brief. A removable additional load platform is a surface between the rear and side doors above the wheel arches, which can be taken out of the vehicle and used to carry, for example, pallets.

When should I choose underfloor storage instead of a pull-out floor?
Choose underfloor storage (a double floor) when you want drawers and Euro boxes under a raised floor while keeping the entire load area above them. Choose the pull-out floor when you need to slide something out of the vehicle, such as a bicycle pull-out.

Can the floor or load platform be combined with a shelving unit?
The pull-out floor can be combined with an existing fit-out. Both solutions are built from aluminium profiles with slots for anchoring anything anywhere, so they can be extended and modified.

What should I send so that you can design the solution?
A photograph of the cargo area of the vehicle and a brief description of what you want to store or transport. A hand sketch with dimensions is ideal.
